We have an exciting opportunity for a data centre engineer to join a blue chip organisation in Cork on a permanent basis

• Data center (DC) setup experience with good understanding of DC components (ex: Power, PDU, Cooling, UPS/Battery, Racks, Cabling, Server, Virtualization, Storage, Backup, Network etc)

• Study the existing setup as part of Site Assessment

• Hub room/IDF room, Rack space, Power, Cooling, UPS, Cabling assessment

• Identification of Structured Cabling requirements. i.e. identification of additional structured cabling, dressing and labelling requirements

• Collect the site inventory – Floor plan, Network diagram, Rack Layout, Network Assets, etc.

• Site survey for the fiber cable connectivity between IDF (Rack), and Buildings

• Technical support for below activities;

• Collect the site inventory – Floor plan, Network diagram, Rack Layout, IT Assets, Availability of Power, Cooling, PDU, UPS/Battery, Racks etc

• Identify the Structured Cabling requirements

• Inventory validation as per the BOM

• Physical Installation of Server and Storage (Mounting the hardware in Rack as per the plan prepared by team)

• Powering ON the equipment, Burn-test, Firmware upgrade

• Network & Storage connection as per the direction

• Connecting devices to network to enable remote access

• Installation of ESX on the Physical server

• o Failover/redundancy test for Servers, Storage

• o Troubleshooting common issues in the physical and virtual infrastructure

• o Prepare the Installation report and submit for Signoff

• o Hands-and-feet requirement during the cut-over

• Basic troubleshooting skills in Windows server/Virtualization OR Storage/Backup

• Mounting of wireless access points on the ceiling/wall

• Basic configuration of compute devices (ESX, Cisco UCS, Windows server) if required as per the guidance. i.e. Configuring IP address, hostname, DHCP, DNS reachability configuration

• Carrying out User testing, Acceptance Tests, Fine-tuning in coordination

• Prepare the Installation report and submit for Signoff.

• Hands and feet support during the migration/cut-over

Good to have background:

Good understanding of network project implementation methodologies

Required Communication and Behavioral Skills:

• Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders across different time zones and drive effective outcomes

• Excellent Verbal, Written Communication and Presentation skills

• Participate in meetings related to respective site setup program both locally and virtually

• Represent local Point of Contact for the program

• Prepare reports, provide updates for assigned activities time to time

• Provide inputs on timelines, effort required, project related challenges if any for planned activities
