We have an exciting opportunity for a DB2 Data Server Administrator to join our blue chip client at their office in Portsmouth.

As a DB2 Data Server Administrator Specialist you’ll have overall responsibility for the operation and maintenance of DB2 databases across multiple environments, middleware applications, and database technologies in a high availability configuration. Your job will also include database administration, capacity planning, performance management, and security compliance.

The role requires a solid background working on Unix platforms, preferably AIX on IBM’s pSeries servers.

Experience in the following is required:

– DB2 Data Server Administration on AIX, Linux Redhat and Windows
– Partitioned Databases (DPF) and InfoSphere Data Warehouse
– Advanced recovery scenarios in a partitioned database configuration
– DB2 in Clustered environment (HACMP on AIX or Veritas Cluster Service on Redhat)
– MQ Replication (QRep)
– Problem determination, resolution, and database tuning
– Tivoli Storage Manager
– Korn shell scripting
– Production application support

Other Key Deliverables:

– Incident and Problem Management
– Updating and creating application and operations support documentation
– High level of problem determination and problem solving skills
– High level of written and verbal communication skills in English
– Timely implementation of Changes, Incident and Problem tickets
– Security & Compliance (CIRATs , APARs , GSD)
– Working with the DBA team in building new and maintaining / upgrading the database environments to latest  product release.

Required:

– Language: English – Fluent (written and spoken)
– At least 5 years experience with Implementation of DB2 Data Server on Unix
– At least 5 years experience with DB2 Data Server Administration on AIX, Redhat or Windows
– Strong Problem Determination and Resolution skills
– Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
– Strong Korn shell scripting skills

Additional information:

– There is a requirement for 24×7 Standby support on a scheduled rotation
– Occasional Weekend overtime will be required to support for changes or system tests
09:00 – 17:30 (1 hour lunch)
