GTS’s IT Jobs in Cardiff. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Desktop Support Engineer to join our client on their site in Cardiff on a 1 month contract with potential extensions.

This is a site-based contract role and is inside IR35. So this role is suited to umbrella contractors only.

Working as a Desktop Support Engineer, you will provide and maintain service continuity for the client’s desktop technology. You will resolve any technical issues that may occur, all within contractual agreements.
We are looking for people who are passionate about technology and increasing their existing knowledge, whilst delivering exceptional customer service.

Day to Day tasks:

Respond to customer incidents, service requests and manage through to a successful resolution.
Secondly, deliver a deskside service to the customer, including hardware break fix and software support for laptops and desktops across the site.
Thirdly, maintain desktop devices.
Also, manage and maintain the configuration and installation of desktops, including patch updates and hardware replacements.
Finally, monitor security profiles and anti-virus software on all Desktop Devices. Take appropriate action in the event of non-compliance with security requirements.

Experience required for this role:

3 + years of desktop support experience.
A confident communicator who is able to engage at all levels.
Be able to work under pressure and adapt to change.
Excellent customer service skills.
Knowledge of network protocols, server hardware, and configurations.
Relevant IT qualifications.
Ticket management experience, preferably Service Now.
In tune management experience.
Autopilot experience (Preferable).
W10 experience and fault diagnosis.
Build of Android and iPhone.
Build laptops and smart devices.
Experiene as an engineer.
Have proven experience with a large user base.
