IT Jobs Portsmouth: SC Cleared Networks Operation Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer to join a blue chip organisation in Portsmouth on an initial 12 month contract.

The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house data, LAN and WAN, and wireless network services.  The Network Engineer will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyse and resolve network hardware and software problems by participating in the client Service Management processes. Ensuring any issues are resolved in a timely and accurate fashion in alignment with agreed SLAs.

This role is site based, and inside IR35 so umbrella contractors only. Current Valid SC Clearance is required. The working hours are Monday to Friday Only (No bank holidays).

Key Tasks:

Investigate and help resolve issues on customers’ network and IT environment using agreed troubleshooting methodologies.
Manage network support cases to enable fast resolution that exceeds our customers’ expectations.
Ensure accurate recording of all cases using the Company’s ticket management tool and closing within agreed timeframes.
Work with client teams and internal teams in the plan and execute in depth technical activity.
Influence the direction of activities and plans and provide technical insight and guidance to others.
Use the central document repository. This is to ensure knowledge sharing across the team and enable best practices.
Support wider team with knowledge sharing, via knowledge base communications (emails, how-to guides etc.) and contribution at team meetings.
Participate in the on-call and shift rota, this is an onsite delivery-based role (when required).

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Firstly, 5 years of relevant Network experience within information security/technology focused on networking.
Cisco switching and wireless, Cisco Security. This includes ASA firewalls and ISE.
Proven experience in incident management, service request management, and problem solving.
Experience in using ticketing systems and use of monitoring and management tools.
Ability to communicate well. Build relationships to understand client requirements.
Have the ability to deliver against deadlines and agreed on SLA targets.
Ability to take ownership of an issue or task and see it through to completion.
Have Juniper Junos experience.
Checkpoint experiences Management / Orchestration Tools. e.g. Cisco DNA, Tufin, CheckMK, and Remedy Service Management (Operator for Incident and Service Request tickets).
Ansible ITIL qualification is desirable.
Finally, certificates required: SC Clearance.
