Newbridge Jobs for a Desktop Support Engineer

Newbridge jobs has a new role for a customer-focused and driven Desktop Support Engineer. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in solving IT issues and supporting clients. The role is based in Newbridge, Ireland.

This is a permanent role working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. But some critical out-of- hours support may be needed on a call rota system. The salary is Euros 35k-45k plus a 3k location allowance

We need a technically competent candidate with good communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

Firstly, support infrastructure including network printers, network hardware and server hardware.

Secondly, provide L2 Desktop Support Engineers to end users in office and pharmaceutical production environments.

Also, resolve issues within set targets.

Must take ownership of tickets escalated and be a good team player.

Work well on your own, identifying, and prioritising incidents, requests, & escalations

Work in an L1 role in a physical or virtual “kiosk” setting, providing first-hand service to users

Ensure that all activity is accurately documented and recorded in line with ITIL practices

Contribute to the creation and upkeep of Knowledge Base Articles

Adhere to IT Asset Management procedures & policies

Build and deploy PCs, patch network points, troubleshoot printer problems, support standard software packages, and other general “IT” tasks

Also, engage with ad-hoc tasks with a positive attitude

Work comfortably in comms areas and data centres, provide ‘Hands and Eyes’ support to other teams as well as taking ownership and providing on-the-ground feedback and guidance to offshore teams

Provide occasional project assistance, including out-of-hours work and potential travel to other sites

Needed Essential skills / qualifications:

Firstly, must be ready to learn and face new challenges

Secondly, excellent written and verbal skills

Also, have the ability to work on your own and as part of a team

3-year experiences in a Desktop support role

Must have software and hardware troubleshooting skills

Furthermore, experience of supporting Windows 10, Microsoft Office suites including Office 365

Good understanding of regulated/ITIL environment with service, ticketing systems

Proficiency with Network Infrastructure e.g. switches, routers, APs, patching, network architecture knowledge

Server Hardware support experiencing (racking and providing Hands & Eyes support)

Printer hardware knowledge

Finally, have a full Driving Licence and access to a car

Other Skills and qualifications that would be of benefit:

Firstly, an ITIL certification

Be able to support legacy Windows operating system, PCs or Benchtops in a laboratory or production environment

Also, have working knowledge of Label Printers, & Mobile Handheld Computers

Finally Service Centre/Service Manager skills
