Newport Jobs: Networks Operation Engineer.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer to join a blue chip organisation in Newport on an initial 12-month contract.
The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house data, LAN & WAN, and wireless network services.
The Network Engineer will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization. This is of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyse and resolve network hardware and software problems. Participate in the client Service Management processes. Ensure any issues are resolved in a timely and accurate fashion in alignment with agreed SLAs.
The working hours are Monday to Friday Only (No bank holidays). This role is site based, and inside IR35 so is suitable for umbrella contractors only. Current Valid SC Clearance is required.
Investigate and help resolve issues on customers’ networks and IT environment. This is by using agreed troubleshooting methodologies.
Manage network support cases to enable fast resolution that exceeds our customers’ expectations. Ensure accurate recording of all cases. This is using the Company’s ticket management tool and closing within agreed time frames.
Work with client teams and internal teams in planning and executing in depth technical activity. Influence the direction of activities and plans. Provide technical insight and guidance to others.
Use the central document repository, to ensure knowledge sharing across the team and enable best practices.
Support wider team with knowledge sharing. This is through knowledge based communications (emails, how-to guides etc.) and contribution at team meetings.
Participate in the on-call and shift rota, this is an onsite delivery-based role (when required).
5 years of relevant Network experience within information security/technology and focused on networking.
Cisco switching and wireless, Cisco Security including ASA firewalls and ISE.
Proven experience in incident management, service request management, and problem solving.
Experience in using ticketing systems and use of monitoring and management tools.
Ability to communicate well. Build relationships to understand client requirements.
Have the ability to deliver against deadlines and agreed on SLA targets.
Ability to take ownership of an issue or task and see it through to completion.
Juniper Junos experience.
Checkpoint experience Management / Orchestration Tools such as Cisco DNA, Tufin, CheckMK, and Remedy Service Management (Operator for Incident and Service Request tickets).
Ansible ITIL qualification is desirable.
Certificates required: SC Clearance.
