We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Solutions Architect/ Technical Design Authority . This is a  Hybrid role and as such, 3 days will be either be in the London or Peterborough offices, whilst the remaining 2 at home.

Within this role, you will  lead technical, complex, as well as multi-disciplinary projects and programmes. Above all, you will ensure that solutions delivered are aligned to best practice as well as the client’s technology roadmap.

A SNAPSHOT OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Firstly, you will support the delivery of projects and programmes. To achieve this, you will bring together appropriate SMEs within Corporate IT (UK and US), as well as the wider technology community. As such, you will take on a technical advisory capacity, so to provide advice and guidance to proposed solutions. Also, to assist with resolutions, where issues have occurred.

Above all, you will focus on the delivery of commercial success and as such, will look to improve productivity and efficiencies. Crucially,  driving through the delivery of quality, standardisation as well as adherence to governance.

Additionally, you will be responsible for, or may assist as required, with the creation of High-Level Designs (HLD) documents. Also, assisting SMEs in the creation of Low-Level Design (LLD) documents.

Secondly, you will act as a mentor and technical escalation point for areas where you are considered a subject matter expert. Thereby, providing expert knowledge and peer-level support to resolve issues, review standards, design, and best practices. A key element will be the identification of  risks regarding  new initiatives and projects.

Thirdly, you will manage new companywide developments and initiatives. Fundamentally, you will ensure timely progress through a centralised UK pipeline and Architectural review board. To support this, you will research current and emerging trends and technologies.

In addition,  you will assess the feasibility of prototype designs and proof of concepts. As a result, you will proactively look to find opportunities for improvement during the design process. You may also be required to design prototype solutions.

Lastly, you will produce RFPs so to evaluate new applications as well as solutions, to meet taking business requirements. Similarly, you will support the creation of Business Cases focusing on the  qualitative and quantitative technical benefits, costs and requirements.

IDEALLY, WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE BELOW KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:

ESSENTIAL

Experience as a Technical Design Authority, Solution or Domain Architect.
Or, as a senior engineer responsible for the delivery of solutions, including architecture.
Experience in successfully delivering complex projects.
Effective communicator across all audiences.
Able to articulate complex technical subjects in easily understandable terms and language.
Experience in business stakeholders interaction, engagement and relationship
management. This will include vendors.
Holds, maintains and continues to develop expert  industry recognised technical relevance for core specialisations, as well as skills in other areas. This will include vendor certification.
Extensive industry awareness.
Experience in participating in trade/vendor events.
Strong leadership abilities.
Exceptional skills in time management, as well as planning.

Deep technical and commercial understanding of 3 or more of the following, as well as a
general appreciation of the remainder:

DESIRABLE

Experience working in a Cloud-first hybrid environment
TOGAF qualified
Computing related Degree or Education
ARB experience
Experience working in a DevOps environment. As such, leveraging Infrastructure as Code,
Continuous Integration, Configuration Management. As an example : Chef, Ansible, Salt,
Containerisation, Network as code
Experience with Agile frameworks, such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS
Experience with 3rd party vendors and client management
