Technical Support Engineer

Technical Support Engineer, Solution Support Engineer.
This role is onsite in Yeovil, Somerset.
The salary is up to £60,000.
You must be able to undergo SC clearance.
This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday.

Firstly, this role is for a skilled Backup and Storage engineer. The candidate must understand client systems. This includes Microsoft Server, Microsoft technologies Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, Clustering, IBM AIX, VMware virtualisation, Oracle, and other infrastructure systems.

You will have access to a large library of training courses. This is to help further your skills and development.

Also, the site benefits from easy access to travel links and free parking. You will also have employee rates at the on-site restaurant.

Due to the nature of the client’s work, the successful candidate will need to be able to obtain SC Security Clearance. For this reason, we are only able to progress with applications from British nationals.

The ideal candidate must have the ability to deliver a range of support functions. This is to monitor, install, troubleshoot and diagnose for backup and storage solutions.

Tasks:
Firstly, liaise with internal and customer teams. This is to deliver 3rd-line technical support.
Work with the team and the Customer to improve.
Automation of alerting and reporting.
Provide Systems Administration. This includes implementing, configuring, and maintenance.
Out-of-hours work as required to meet Customer needs.
Finally, must be willing to go on 24×7 “On-call” support rotation.

Essential Skills:
Firstly, proven 2 years plus relevant work experience. This is with VMware virtualisation technology. In particular, VMware DCV, DTM, vSAN, and vRealise.
Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
Be able to communicate effectively. This is with both written and verbal English.
Good organisation.
Proven project management skills.
Good diagnostic skills and be able to troubleshoot.
Work to best practices where possible.
Finally, have the ability to convey technical information at all levels.

Desirable:
Veritas Netbackup and BackupExec.
IBM Spectrum Protect as well as Spectrum Protect Plus.
NetApp Filers.
Hitachi Storage.
Highly Available storage solutions.
Microsoft Windows Server.
Infrastructure technology.
VMware virtualisation.
IBM AIX experience.
ITIL certification.
Working knowledge of SM9 or SNOW or similar.
