About the Job

We have an exciting contract opportunity for a Culture & Events Officer. This role will join a well-established organisation in London. The contract is for initial 3-month and is hybrid working. The role is inside IR35 and is available for umbrella contractors only.

Key Responsibilities

Event Management:

Serve as Event Manager, Assistant Event Manager, Infrastructure Manager, or Stage Manager at public events. Also conducting dynamic on-site risk assessments to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.

Issue Resolution:

Utilise strong analytical and communication skills to address and resolve issues, protecting and enhancing the organisation’s reputation with subcontractors, volunteers, colleagues, civic dignitaries, artists, and the public.

Project Management:

Oversee arts and events development projects. This includes infrastructure, health and safety, community groups, artist liaison, and marketing. Manage contributions to meet deadlines and maintain accurate information.

Health and Safety:

Ensure event safety at diverse locations, manage emergency procedures, access, egress, traffic management, risk assessment, Construction Design Management planning, security, and first aid.

Sector Research:

Stay informed about sector developments and current trends to assess the demand for events, arts, and play development initiatives, ensuring an attractive and effective offer for residents.

Supplier Management:

Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, artists, and activity providers to ensure legal compliance by checking risk assessments, food hygiene, public liability insurance, ADIPS (ride testing), and electrical equipment testing documents.

Stakeholder Negotiation:

Negotiate with stakeholders to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, ensuring best value for residents.

Skills and Qualifications

Communication:

Provide professional and confident communication to resolve contentious and sensitive issues during event organisation and delivery, managing conflicting needs, expectations, and demands from stakeholders at all levels.

Liaison:

Work with Senior Officers, Elected Members, Town and Parish Councils, MPs, project partners, and the public to offer advice on events and cultural activities, venue appropriateness, artist and subcontractor contracting, financial and health and safety risk assessments, marketing, and budget management.

Collaboration:

Partner with agencies such as the Police, Fire Service, and Highways Authority to incorporate their advice and priorities into event planning and delivery.

Marketing Coordination:

Plan and coordinate marketing activities for events and arts development. Furthermore, create tailored content for different channels and audiences, use content management systems to edit web content. Also, develop social media strategies and email campaigns.
Budget Management:

Manage devolved budgets, identify additional income sources such as sponsorship and grants, and ensure the accurate handling and security of cash or cheques, as well as the maintenance, inventory, insurance, and storage of event materials.

Business Continuity:

Ensure business continuity in the manager’s absence. Likewise, undertake additional duties as requested by the line manager or Head of Service.
