We a great career opportunity for an IT Field Engineer to join our client on a permanent basis in Wednesbury.
You will be working alongside the Service Desk team of seven, to provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of the IT systems and supporting Infrastructure.
The normal hours will be 37.5 per week, including 1 hour lunch per day – Typically 08:30 – 17:00. However, there will be flexibility.
With this role, there could be a requirement to work periods outside of those hours, depending on company requirements – In addition, overnight stays for some of the site visit could be needed due to the distance.
Firstly, device and connectivity troubleshooting.
Secondly, installation of new and replacement hardware.
Also, liaise with internal support teams to provide remote hands and eyes for fault finding.
Proactive maintenance and health checks, including cable management.
Likewise, perform asset management, stock control and support with equipment decommission.
Furthermore, document activities for knowledge sharing.
Firstly, experience in a similar role.
You must hold a valid UK driving license for this role.
Be be ready and have the flexibility to travel.
Ability to gain base-level security clearance – BPSS.
Good at communicating in a non-IT language that customers understand.
Analytical mind for systematic issue diagnosis and resolution.
Positive, can-do attitude, motivated to provide excellent customer service.
Team player mentality, working collaboratively often in time-critical situations.
Good working and demonstratable knowledge of the following hardware –
Networking equipment – Switches, routers, and Wireless
Comms cabinets – patch panels, UPS, PDU
Peripherals and their maintenance – printers, scanners
Relevant IT certification
The new IT Field Engineer will spend the majority of their time visiting the 50+ sites we have within the UK.
When not travelling, they will be working from home with a periodic visit to our West Midlands office for collaboration and in-person meetings.
