If you are interested in Jobs in Gloucestershire, we have a great role for a Data Centre engineer. This is a full time on-site based role. The salary is £25,760. The role is working a 4 on 4 off rota. You will typically work 15 x 11-hour shifts per 28-day cycle working either 07:00 to 19:00 or 19:00 to 07:00.
Due to the nature of our client’s work, the successful applicant would need to either already hold or be able to obtain SC Security Clearance. For this reason, we can only progress with applications from British nationals.
Firstly, loading/unloading backup media tapes
Ordering/Off-siting of media
Likewise, track of all media
Progression of quarterly media audits
Reviewing site access requests for both planned (IMAC) and incident requests
Liaising with requestors to make sure accounts have the correct approvals in place for any onsite work
Issuing of access lists to security so that pre-notified engineers can gain access to site
Acceptance of pre-notified delivery and collections to site
Also, stores management
Authorisation and preparation of scheduled delivery lists
Infrastructure Support and Hands and Eyes tasks
Provide basic onsite support for any issues with equipment in the data halls, acting as the hands and eyes of the remote specialist engineer – reporting LED status, reseat modules, etc. Unresolved issues are then escalated internally to resolve, or logged out to external providers to remedy e.g.: maintenance supplier for hardware faults
Firstly, a basic understanding of IT operations in a large organisation
Strong loyalty regarding data and DC facility security
Ability to work precisely and quality oriented
Maturity, high level of reliability & sense of responsibility
lastly, be flexible and willing to deal with unexpected problems and situations
Firstly, competent and professional communication with a commercial attitude over the phone
Understand and clarify customer expectations effectively
Capacity to manage customer expectations and interactions effectively
Also, basic understanding of IT infrastructure
Ability to handle various types of media, devices, and libraries
Media management experience
Proficiency in using Microsoft applications (O365)
Finally, have a basic understanding of Networking
