Jobs in Cork; Desktop Support Engineer – Contract role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Desktop Support Engineer based in Cork, to join an established organisation. This is for an initial 3 week contract.

Working a Desktop Support Engineer, you will work for our client at their customer site, as part of the Site Services Team. As such, will provide L2 support so to maintain service continuity for the client’s end users and so resolve any technical issues that may occur, all within set targets.

A SNAPSHOT OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Firstly, you will work to resolve issues accurately and efficiently, within set targets. Crucially, you will prioritise issues according to severity. Importantly, you will maintain  a professional manner at all times.
Crucially, you will be commitment to service quality and above all, the customer experience.
Secondly, you will take ownership of tickets escalated from the service desk & other teams, and in so doing will handle them appropriately.
Thirdly, you will accurately document and record all activity. This will be  in line with ITIL practices.
As such, you will contribute to the creation and up-keep of Knowledge Base Articles. You will also adhere to all IT Asset Management procedures & policies.
Additionally, you will build and deploy PCs, patch network points, troubleshoot printer problems, support standard software packages, as well as other general “IT” tasks.
Over all, you will comply with company health and safety training and policies.
Lastly, you will work  in ‘comms’ areas as well as data centres, and so provide ‘Hands and Eyes’ support to other teams. For instance, this will include providing ‘on-the-ground feedback’ and guidance to offshore teams.

IDEALLY, WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE BELOW KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:

Relevant Desktop Support experience.
A confident communicator  who is able to engage at all levels.
Excellent customer service skills.
Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment. adhering to local and global policies.
Be able to work comfortably on your own.
Work well as part of a small team.
Positive attitude.
Willing to learn new skills and procedures.
Knowledge of ITIL framework.
