Infrastructure Team Lead / Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Permanent Infrastructure Team Lead / Senior Infrastructure Engineer based in Reading.
This is a hybrid role with 3 Days on-site per week.
The salary for Senior Engineer: £55,000 – £60,000 – DOE.
The salary for Team Lead: up to £62,000 plus £3,000 Bonus.

We are ideally looking for a Technical Infrastructure Team Leader for this fantastic opportunity with an ICT company in Reading. You will have team leader experience for this role.

However, we welcome the application of Senior Engineers who have highly skilled technical backgrounds and would have the potential to step into a leadership role.

Main Job Function:

Firstly, manage and develop an Infrastructure team. This is to support internal and external customer base while adhering to ISO27001 standards and best practice methodology.
Be responsible for the I.T Infrastructure. Enable our systems and services to reside on the most secure, reliable, and resilient platforms. This is while consolidating existing Infrastructures and reducing costs.
Manage the planning, change control, and execution of all core infrastructure upgrades as well as implementations.
Also, provide an escalation route for all Infrastructure incidents where 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line avenues have been followed.
Provide auditing and reporting for all internal and customer IT infrastructures. This is to highlight risks and plans for mitigation.
Identify new products and technologies where we are currently vulnerable or exposed, particularly from a data security perspective.
Provide guidance as well as support to the wider ICT Services division in line with the IT strategy.
Assist with the expansion of our ICT Services (Comprehensive Services) throughout the business channels. Enable scalability of our platforms and services to achieve this.
Finally, manage cost control and be responsible for producing financial approvals through RINGI system for any Infrastructure investment.

Key tasks:

Firstly, develop and manage a new Infrastructure team to support the internal and external customer base.
Provide a technical escalation route for all Infrastructure problems and incidents.
Perform research and provide documented recommendations. This is to improve and enhance our internal infrastructure and Managed Service products and services to our external customers.
Provide support for internal IT projects with relevant technical documentation.
Manage all monitoring and alerting functions to meet internal and external customer SLAs.
Manage patch management schedule for all internal and external server environments.
Assist and support with all Business Continuity Planning requirements.
Support any emergency Business Continuity and/or Disaster Recovery actions if required.
Manage all system backup and restore requirements in line with I.T Policy.
Manage all User and System Access rights and permissions through the Change Request process.
Ensure all system updates and asset management records are up to date and correct.
Provide system and network reports for monitoring purposes and senior management reviews.
Support Presales requests for Infrastructure led Managed Service proposals when required.
Identify, develop, and introduce new Managed Services into the product portfolio.
Research and investigate new products in new technology areas such as IoT and produce business cases where applicable for business approval and adoption.
Finally, any other tasks as directed.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

Firstly, have an exceptional understanding of IT Managed Services.
Ability to write technical documentation. Provide potentially complicated information to the business in a clear manner.
Ability to communicate service information to a varied and often senior audience.
Good general overall technical understanding of all new technologies.
Experience in server virtualization (VMware, HyperV).
Experience with Cloud architectures. This includes but is not limited to COLO, AWS and Azure.
Working knowledge of monitoring systems and ITSM tools.
Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, and policies.
SQL as well as mySQL technologies.
Storage technologies.
Antivirus systems.
Microsoft Office 365.
General network troubleshooting experience, firewall, TCP/IP, DHCP, and WAN architecture.
Backup, Replication & DR Systems experience, Veeam, Zerto.
Linux.
Finally, Fortinet.

Desirable
Firstly, experience with Crowdstrike.
CCNA\CCNP.
Also, VCP.
Azure Certifications.
Finally, MCSA\MCSE.
