Role Description

We are looking for a customer-focused Senior Network Engineer.  This position will lead technical engagements on major projects, new site implementations, and assessing new solutions for use with customers. This is all the while ensuring our SLAs and excellent service are upheld and met. This role will form a key part of driving the Service, Engineering, and IT team assisting the Director of Network Services.

Key Responsibilities

Firstly, respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
Understand and adhere to company Network Standards.
Troubleshoot Network issues relating to Physical, Switching, Routing, and Wireless.
Also, customer site installations, racking, cabling, and configuring.
Use Monitoring tools for the visibility of customer networks and proactively respond to faults being reported.
Maintain Data Centre Hardware, Backbone Peering and Routing, and Infrastructure.
Participate in on-call rota.
Finally, travel to customer sites.

Requirements

Essential
Firstly, exceptional technical knowledge of switching and routing (JNCIP, CCNP level).
Teamwork, working with colleagues across the business to deliver outcomes.
Also, proactive and self-driven with excellent communication skills.
Document customer networks as well as deployment best practices.
Ability to design service provider networks as well as create low level diagrams.
Proven skill in troubleshooting routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IS-IS.
Strong knowledge of enterprise networks including switching and wireless.
Capacity planning, maintenance schedules, and change control best practices.
Finally, defining standards as well as enforcing adherence, writing these to a clear and concise level.

Desirable
Firstly, working knowledge of Mist, Ruckus and Meraki.
Experience with a ServiceDesk Management Tool.
Also, knowledge of Linux.
Understanding of scripting/automation such as Python, Jinja2 or Ansible.
In-depth switching protocol knowledge eg LAG, LACP, STP.
In-depth routing protocol knowledge eg OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS.
Also, knowledge of open-source products for Network Monitoring.
Finally, hands on development of tools such as Netbox, PRTG, Libre.
