If you are looking for Work in Thurrock, GTS has a great contract opportunity for a Strategic Lead. This is on an initial 3 month contract but this may get extended. The day rate is £450.

Role overview:

Firstly, establish a Strategic Facilities Management function. Also, enhance the delivery of the service. This includes the implementation of an Operational Property Model for the management of the client’s portfolio.
Secondly, manage the Facilities Management Team. This includes contractor and consultant support as required, with responsibility for setting targets, monitoring performance, and taking corrective action as necessary.
Also, ensure that energy and water use are monitored. Bills are paid, and clients are on the best tariffs. Recommend spend to save schemes for energy and water use.
Develop the team’s operational procedures and strategies.
Provide high level Facilities management service. This is regarding all operational buildings for compliance and reactive maintenance together with other associated management functions.
Be responsible and accountable for the supervision of performance development and motivation of the team.

More about this role:

Firstly, you will hold monthly departmental meetings.
Secondly, hold staff 1-2-1’s and PDR’s identify relevant training needs required.
Recruitment and selection of new employees when required.
Also, investigate complaints made concerning members of the team or delivery of service.
Carry out disciplinary, grievances, in line with Thurrock s policy.
Set, review, and manage the Operational Buildings budgets and have monthly meetings with Service Managers regarding expenditures.
Take responsibility for reporting and managing year-end processes. Ensure compliance with any financial/legal rules and regulations.
Oversee the specification, procurement, and management of external and specialist advisors and contractors as required in support of all Operational building activities.
Responsible for Facilities Concerto helpdesk database, review, monitor and implement the rolling programme on all Operational Buildings for compliance and reactive maintenance function.
Assist with asset review and implementation processes. Responsible for the service delivery of all operational building capitol programme.
To work closely with Technical Services on the delivery of compliance and effective responsive repairs to all operational buildings under the Property portfolio.
Lead on procurement and contracts for Facilities Management.
Provide Facilities Management input into broader Initiatives and work streams including all Major Capital Projects
Working with the Assistant Director, provide reports and briefings as required
lastly, undertake all other duties commensurate with the grading of this post as directed from time to time by the Assistant Director.

Relevant professional qualification.
Also, evidence of CPD.
Relevant membership of a professional body.
Knowledge of Local Authority structures, constraints, and governance.
Understanding of and ability to use performance frameworks.
Experience in identifying and developing opportunities for innovation, improvement, and change which have led to service improvement.
Proven track record of delivery.
Track record of operating within a management team and contributing towards organisational improvement.
Experience in, and commitment to, working in partnership with external agencies.
Proven track record of balancing strategic and operational needs.
Lastly, A Chartered Surveyor with MRICS/FRICS registration and a registered valuer with over 10 years of relevant Commercial Property.

Experience:

Experience working in local government.
Commitment to the principles of agile working. Must be flexible with your working hours and location. Some home working is needed.
Have a good understanding of diversity and equality issues and plan strategies, service delivery and best practices to address them.
